Hydrostatic Transmission Models
Check the Bypass Valve. The bypass valve disconnects the drive system from the wheels, allowing you to roll the machine in a neutral state. Generally this rod sticks out from the back or side of the machine near the rear wheels. This rod must be pushed in in order to re-engage the drive system. The location and the instructions for your specific machine will be found in your owners manual.
Check the Drive Belt. It is possible that the drive belt could have broken or popped off of the drive system pulleys. In this scenario please refer to the belt replacement instructions found in the Owner's Manual.

Gear / Automatic Tranmission Models
- For Tractors ,Check the position of the Ignition Key. The reverse drive will only work with the key in the reverse position. This key position and reverse operation is outline in the owners manual.
- Check Transmission Linkages. The linkage system connecting the transmission to the pedal/lever to engage the drive system may have become loose/damaged from an impact with a foriegn object. Gravely 252 Parts
Gravely's line of eXtra Durable Zero-Turn mowers, or XDZs, now called Pro-Master, are commercial grade all the way. Testing reports show an overall 30 percent increase in durability.
Gravely Pro-Master 200 series zero turning radius mowers include models 252, 260, the new 266 and the acre eating 272-all designating the cut size for the particular model.
The 200 series has larger capacity pumps and motors than the Pro-Turn series as well as Suspension seats as standard equipment. Larger fuel capacity is an added bonus.
The XDZs feature improvements to the subsystems critical to commercial cutters: ground drive, electrical, deck drive and deck. The result is dramatically cooler hydraulic temperatures that result in longer pump and motor life, longer belt life, increased durability to the deck in high-wear conditions, and electrical systems designed to eliminate corrosion and downtime.
